The Connecticut Green Building Council (CTGBC) is a chapter of the US Green Building Council (USGBC) which covers the State of Connecticut. We are committed to transforming the way our buildings are designed, constructed and operated through LEED — the top third-party verification system for sustainable structures around the world. Every day USGBC is helping advance spaces that are better for the environment and healthier for us to live, work and play in.

Throughout the year, we hold a series of workshops on green building topics, networking opportunities, membership meetings, educational forums, seminars on green buildings and periodic Connecticut based LEED™ training in connection with the US Green Building Council. The CTGBC also monitors activities in Connecticut related to high performance green buildings and maintains a speakers bureau.

The 2016 Alexion Award of Excellence recipient, The Stamford 2030 District.

The CT Green Building Awards recognize innovative and exceptional sustainable building projects in CT each year. The CT Green Building Council (CTGBC) believes in supporting and highlighting green building practices through this annual event. Eligible projects for the 2017 Awards will have been built in the last two years (since September 2015), are located in Connecticut, and must be at least substantially complete and demonstrate significant green strategies and performance. Projects are judged by a jury of experts in the field of green building.

CTGBC also annually recognizes an individual, organization, or municipality that has shown a strong commitment to sustainability. The Judy Swann Green Advocate Award, named after the CTGBC's long-time Executive Director, will be given to a recipient who is an environmental steward showing excellence in promoting sustainability through education, example, outreach, and leadership.
